Question 667: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if the Government proposes to abolish the existing two dimensional red zones that are also known as red safety areas in view of the proposed designation of the two dimensional public safety zones at the State airports in accordance with the recommendations contained in the ERM report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is preparing draft guidelines for planning authorities on public safety zones at State airports and in this context is considering the ERM recommendations, including recommendations on "red zones". When the draft guidelines are completed they will be issued for public consultation.
