Question 409: To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the steps he will take in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary who received a holiday voucher as a gift for Christmas, and which will not be honoured as the travel company who issued it went into receivership days after its being issued. I understand from inquiries made that the company named is part of a larger travel company which went into creditor's voluntary liquidation on 15 December 2005.

The liquidation of a company involves the cessation of the company's activities, the realisation of its assets and the payment of the company's creditors to the extent possible. The travel voucher would appear to fall into the ranking of unsecured creditors in the winding up process. The owner of the travel voucher should make the liquidator aware of the company's liability under the voucher.
