Question 236: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if the national cancer strategy, submitted by the national cancer forum, has made recommendations for the introduction of colorectal cancer screening; the age group to which this may apply; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I received a strategy for cancer control in Ireland 2006 from the chairman of the national cancer forum last month. The strategy makes recommendations in respect of the criteria for decisions on the introduction of population-based screening, including colorectal screening. I am examining the strategy with a view to bringing the proposals to Government. I expect to have the strategy published in March.
