Question 401: To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of applications received under the research, technology and innovation grant by Enterprise Ireland in 2005; the number of applications approved in 2005; the amount approved; the budget for allocation in 2006; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The RTI scheme is managed by Enterprise Ireland, on behalf of its clients and those of IDA Ireland, Shannon Development and Údarás na Gaeltachta. It supports commercially focused, industry-led projects in product and process development. In 2005, 153 applications were received for the scheme, of which 150 were supported. The total value of approvals in 2005 was €30.6 million and it is expected to exceed €32 million in 2006. The budget for grant payments in 2006 is €23 million.
