Question 83: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the Rape Crisis Network Ireland position with regard to receiving money in view of the fact that having met with her and the Minister for Finance, the representatives of the Rape Crisis Network Ireland were given to understand that they were to be allocated €7 million funding as the Minister for Finance indicated the money was there and she was supportive but when application was made, the Health Service Executive replied saying it has no money; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004.
As the Deputy may be aware two weeks ago the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children met with representatives of three organisations in the violence against women sector. Following that meeting the Tánaiste asked the HSE to review the issues raised by the organisations. The HSE is considering this request.
