Question 229: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he has appointed the consultants appointed to draft a preliminary report on the development of a sewerage scheme for the village of Creggs, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Creggs sewerage scheme was fourth on the list of sewerage schemes submitted by Galway County Council in response to my Department's request to local authorities in 2003 to produce updated assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The assessments were taken into account in the framing of the Water Services Investment Programme 2005-2007 published in December 2005. Given the level of competing demand for the available funding, it was not possible to include the scheme in the current programme. I envisage that local authorities will be afforded an opportunity in 2006 to undertake fresh assessments of their needs and priorities which will be then taken into account in future phases of the programme.
