Question 126: To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the situation in relation to the renewal of working permits for non-Irish nationals; his views on the non-renewal of persons work permits; when it is proposed to introduce the green card permit system; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In general, an application for the renewal of a work permit is granted provided that the conditions of employment specified in the permit have been adhered to by the employer. I envisage that the new economic migration arrangements, which I announced on 12 October 2005, will be implemented after the legislation has been passed through the Oireachtas.
