Question 134: To ask the Minister for Transport if he will extend beyond the Chicago Convention regulations pertaining to non-commercial air traffic for code 1A aerodromes in congested areas such as is the case in the UK in view of the increased level of air traffic in this sector here and the need for further regulation to ensure public safety; and if he will make a statement on the matter. This is an operational matter for which neither I nor my Department has responsibility. The Irish Aviation Authority has informed my Department that the comparison with the UK is not sufficiently specific to enable it to form a response. A public licensed international aerodrome in Ireland is required to comply with the requirements of the Chicago Convention relating thereto, in the context of international air traffic.
