The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, the Department has requested the parliamentary affairs division of the executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.

Question 261: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if her attention has been drawn to the funding requirement for the Mayo centre for independent living for 2006 of approximately €950,000; if her attention has further been drawn to the fact that of the personal assistant service being provided at the moment 18 are employed on community employment schemes with the remainder being funded from the Health Service Executive; if her attention has further been drawn to the fact that 60 leaders require a personal assistant in the Mayo area in 2006; the level of funding to be provided by her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
