Question 462: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the fact that gardaí are not allowed to use the new Garda station at Derrinturn, Carbury, County Kildare for health and safety reasons, namely, due to the fact that there is no back door on the premises; if he will arrange to have the matter examined with a view to having remedial action taken that will allow the early use of the new premises; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Health and safety standards in the construction of Garda stations are the responsibility of the Office of Public Works, which has informed me that the recently completed new Garda station in Derrinturn meets all the appropriate standards. Accordingly, I expect that the gardaí will occupy the station very shortly.
