Question 1506: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will ensure the amount of funding from his Department being made available to each local authority is made known to each of the authorities before they are scheduled to adopt their annual estimates; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I assume that the question refers to general purpose grant allocations from the local government fund for 2006 which were notified to local authorities on 5 December 2005. The statutory prescribed period for local authority budget meetings runs to 13 January 2006 in the case of county councils and 15 January 2006 in the case of city borough councils and rating town councils.
