Question 457: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the number of social housing units under Part V of the Planning and Development Act 2000 which his Department has not sanctioned on the grounds of price; the locations of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The manner to which local authorities avail of Part V arrangements for social and affordable housing is a matter to be determined by local authorities based on the housing needs identified in their housing strategies. My Department has not refused to sanction houses which are to be transferred to a local authority in accordance with an agreement under Part V. However, my Department would be concerned to ensure that any such agreement represents value for money.
