Question 451: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the fact that having allocated a capital allocation sometime ago in respect of the development of a specific sewerage scheme in County Cork (details supplied), serious delays have occurred in the commencement of this scheme; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that many of the purchasers are renting accommodation at exorbitant monthly rents; and if the serious delay in this matter will be investigated. The Clondulane sewerage scheme is being funded by my Department under the Water Services Investment Programme 2004-2006 as part of the serviced land initiative. I approved Cork County Council's tender recommendation for the scheme in May 2005 and, accordingly, it a matter for the council to arrange for the commencement of works with the successful tenderer. Detailed information in relation to the progress of the works may appropriately be sought from the county council.
