Question 491: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the legislative steps he is taking to preserve institutional lands; if the Government is of the view that these lands should be maintained in community and public ownership; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The use of land solely or primarily for particular purposes is regulated by the relevant planning authority, in making or varying its development plan. A number of local authorities have specific zonings for institutional land. I consider it appropriate that this matter is addressed at local level. The disposal of institutional property is a matter for the institution concerned.
