Question 427: To ask the Minister for Education and Science her views on whether the economy of the Liberties area and local community projects in which the National College of Art and Design and its students are involved would suffer in the event that the National College of Art and Design relocated from Thomas Street, Dublin 8, to the Belfield campus of UCD; and her proposals to resolve this matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 426 and 427 together.
The National College of Art and Design is examining how its future accommodation needs may be addressed. As part of this examination, the college is considering with UCD the feasibility of options pertaining to the Belfield site. This is merely an evaluation of options and does not assume a decision, which would have to take account of a range of issues, both educational and socioeconomic.
