Question 403: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in respect of each Minister of State within his Department, the number of staff broken down by grade employed within their private and constituency office; the number of staff who are permanent civil servants; the number who are political appointees; the annual cost of each office in terms of salary, overtime and expenses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the table. This information is in respect of Minister of State, Deputy Fahey's office. Private Office: Civil Servants, 1 Private Secretary, 1 Staff Officer, 2 Clerical Officers. Political Appointees None. Total cost is €171,476.83.

Constituency Office: Civil Servants, 3 Clerical Officers. Political Appointees, 1 Personal Secretary (Worksharing), 2 Personal Assistants (1 Worksharing), 1 Secretarial Assistant (Temporary up to 31 December 2005). Total cost is €191,424.65 The total cost includes salary, overtime and expenses from 1 January 2005 to 23 December 2005. One clerical officer was recently assigned to the constituency office to replace the secretarial assistant who is due to finish on 31 December 2005.

The Department of Health and Children will answer in respect of the Minister of State, Deputy Brian Lenihan.
