Question 338: To ask the Minister for Agriculture and Food if, in view of complaints received in County Wicklow regarding the lack of cutting back roadside hedgerows by Coillte on people's lands, she will ensure that this work is carried out on a regular basis. [38660/05]

Coillte Teoranta was established as a private commercial company under the Forestry Act 1988 and day-to-day operational matters are the responsibility of the company. The cutting of roadside hedgerows is a matter of an operational nature for Coillte. However, I have made enquiries with Coillte and I understand that all necessary hedgecutting work, as identified by Wicklow County Council, has been carried out or will be completed shortly. Coillte has no record of receiving any complaints concerning necessary hedgecutting work not being carried out.
