Question 205: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if her attention has been drawn to the 18-month waiting list for assessment of children for speech and language therapy in County Kildare; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the number of therapists in County Kildare has not increased since 1998 and that the increase in population since then with no provision of additional therapists has led to the creation of the waiting list; her views on whether the early assessment is crucial for these children; and if she will increase staffing to reduce the waiting list. The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the parliamentary affairs division of the executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
