Question 294: To ask the Minister for Transport the number of persons within each unit or State agency of his Department who have opted to move to the proposed new location for their unit; the number of other Dublin-based employees of his Department who have opted to move to one of the decentralising units within his Department; the number of persons who have to date in 2005 been assigned to each of the decentralising units; and the number of persons who have opted not to move with their decentralising unit who have been reassigned or offered an alternative posting. The information sought by the Deputy is set out in the following table. However, I should point out that, on its own, the information may be misleading if taken out of context. The road haulage division and the National Safety Council are the two areas identified as first movers. I am confident that 50 transport posts will be transferred to Loughrea by 2007 in line with the target. However, the decision to establish a Road Safety Authority which will take over many of these functions has required a number of issues to be clarified before assignments take place. This work is at an advanced stage and all CAF applicants, not only those in my Department, are being contacted in order to plan the necessary moves.
