Question 181: To ask the Minister for Transport the amount spent annually on compensation payments to learner-drivers for costs incurred due to the fact that the test could not proceed as scheduled, for instance in the circumstances where a tester is unavailable; the number of such compensation payments in a year; the number of cancelled tests in a year where the fault did not lie with the applicant; the way in which this expenditure is accounted for in the annual estimates and the specific subhead applying; the policy in respect of compensating applicants in this fashion; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
