Question 121: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the name and address of solicitors retained to provide legal advice to the ten former health boards including the former Eastern Regional Health Authority for the years 2002, 2003 and 2004; the tendering process for each of these contracts; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Section 5 of the Health Act 1970 and section 7 of the Health (Eastern Regional Authority) Act 1999 states that the health boards and ERHA were corporate bodies prior to the enactment of the Health Act 2004. In view of this the provision of legal services and advice to these bodies was a matter solely for them and my Department had no role to play. I have forwarded the question to the Health Service Executive for direct response to the Deputy.

Section 6 of the Health Act 2004 states that the Health Service Executive is a corporate body. In view of this the provision of legal services and advice to these bodies was a matter solely for them and my Department had no role to play. I have forwarded the question to the Health Service Executive for direct response to the Deputy.
