Question 319: To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs, further to Question No. 184 of 27 October 2005, if more information has been made available by the Government of the USA on an Irish citizen or citizens being held in Iraq; if the USA has confirmed that it is holding an Irish citizen or citizens in Iraq; if consular contact has been possible with this person or persons; if he has satisfied himself that this person, or persons, is receiving due process and is able to avail of all rights under international law; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It has now been confirmed by the US State Department to the Irish embassy in Washington that no Irish nationals are in detention in Iraq and that the report carried to this effect was incorrect.
