Question 232: To ask the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works will carry out a traffic survey of bridge users, a structural survey of the bridge, a subsidence survey due to excessive volume of traffic at a bridge over the River Boyne at Stackallen, County Meath, with a view to implementing a major programme of works to upgrade this aging bridge; if the canal locks on each side of the weir to bring the area up to a proper amenity and recreational level will be reinstated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Commissioners of Public Works have no responsibility with regard to the bridge in question. The issues raised are matters for the Departments of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and Arts, Sports and Tourism.
