The school to which the Deputy refers has temporary recognition. Schools with this status are not entitled to capital funding. This includes minor works grant aid which is paid from my Department's overall capital allocation. A payment was previously made to the school in question under the minor works grant scheme. However, given the status of the school, this was made in error. My Department took steps to rectify the situation when the error came to light.

An application for capital investment for the provision of suitable accommodation to cater for an autistic unit was recently received from the school to which the Deputy refers. The application is being assessed and officials of my Department will be in contact with the school authority as soon as a decision is made on how best to provide for the required accommodation.
