The recruitment, employment and dismissal of individual special needs assistants, SNAs, are matters for each school authority.

My Department understands from the board of management of the school referred to by the Deputy, that it has ceased the employment of the special needs assistant in question. A temporary replacement has been employed. The negotiation of the original contract of employment was between the SNA and the school authority, and any further action in respect of the termination of that contract, is a matter for the parties concerned.
