The person concerned was granted permission to remain in the State for a two year period from 14 October 2005 under the revised arrangements announced by me on 15 January 2005 for the non-national parents of Irish born children born before 1 January 2005. Some 18,000 applications to remain in Ireland under the revised arrangements were received by the closing date of 31 March 2005. Some 15,800 have been processed to decision stage, of which 500 approximately have been refused permission to remain.
