Question 452: To ask the Minister for Agriculture and Food if part of the money paid from the EU relative to the Greencore sugar beet issue will go towards reimbursing the pension fund which was depleted as it was used to augment pension payments for retiring workers; her views in relation to the issue; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I presume the Deputy is referring to the proposed voluntary scheme for the restructuring of the sugar industry. The scheme is part of the EU Commission's legislative proposals for reform of the sugar sector, which are currently under discussion. As the proposals are still under discussion the Deputy's question is hypothetical at this stage.
