I understand from the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Deputy Noel Dempsey, that he has approved a grant of €60,000 towards pier improvement works at Garnish pier. His Department will contribute 75% of the funding with the county council funding the remaining 25%. It is expected that the full amount allocated will be spent before the end of the year. No funding has been sought for these works under the CLÁR programme in 2005.
