Question 193: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his officials were contacted by all the local authorities on the introduction of speed limits if his attention has been drawn to the fact that 41% of road deaths are caused by speed; the reason there is speed limits of 100 km on minor roads yet parts of motorways have a limit of 60 km; the resources and instructions which have been issued to all Garda divisional levels to implement the strategy outlined in the road to safety; the further reason there is no data available on the number of Garda checkpoints operated nationwide; his plans to record checkpoints; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
