Question 710: To ask the Minister for Education and Science the number of primary and second level schools here in respect of which she and her Department have received requests for the provision of extra facilities including refurbishment, extension or replacement of existing buildings or the provision of new schools on greenfield sites; the extent to which she expects to be in a position to respond favourably to such requests in the near future, given that a number of Departments have underspent in 2005; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 698 and 710 together.

The information the Deputy requests is not readily available, however, all applications on hand for major capital funding from schools in the Kildare area have been assessed in accordance with the published prioritisation criteria for large scale building projects. Progress on individual projects is being considered in the context of the school building and modernisation programme from 2006 onwards.
