Question 306: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the progress that has been achieved towards the delivery of affordable housing at Magee Barracks, Kildare in view of the adoption by Kildare County Council of an area action plan for the site; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Kildare County Council published proposed changes to the draft Magee Barracks local area plan and invited written submissions or observations with respect to the proposed amendments to the draft plan to be made within the period from 29 August 2005 to 10 October 2005. It is understood that the council will consider those submissions or observations at its next meeting on 28 November 2005. Further progress on this project is dependent on the outcome of that meeting.

As with all of the projects under the Sustaining Progress affordable housing initiative, my Department will continue to ensure that this project is progressed as speedily as possible to ensure the earliest possible delivery of affordable housing units.
