Question 178: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the legal costs to date in 2005, or the latest year for which figures are available, of his Department contesting European Court of Justice actions where decisions have been awarded against the Government. To date Ireland has not had to deal with any costs arising from cases mentioned in the Deputy's question. The Office of the Attorney General and the Chief State Solicitor's office provide the legal service to the State in the conduct of European Court of Justice litigation.
