Question 160: To ask the Minister for Education and Science the number of persons who have complained to her Department as result of loss or change of services to children with special needs; the number of persons who have appealed their child's allocation of help in view of the fact that this information was not provided in her reply of a previously asked question; and if a reply will be given to this query. The specific details requested by the Deputy are not available as my Department does not have an aggregate record of the number of complaints it has received regarding the new general allocation system. While it has received many inquiries from both schools and parents, the vast majority of these inquiries would not have been complaining about the new system but rather seeking clarification in respect of aspects of it.

If the Deputy has specific instances whereby parents are unhappy with the new general allocation system or where they require clarification on any aspect of it, I would be grateful if he could bring them to the attention of my Department and they will be examined.
