Question 66: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the reason a decision was made to abolish the payment of enhanced subvention in the Health Service Executive western area; her views on whether due to this a person without independent means requiring a nursing home place will no longer be able to afford it without enhanced subvention; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that a shortfall of €100 per week will exist for even the most reasonable of nursing home rates; her further views on whether there is complete disparity nationally; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, the Department has requested the parliamentary affairs division of the executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
