Question 420: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the position regarding the commencement of works in a specific location in County Cork under the Department's water services investment programme 2004-06 under the serviced land initiative; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that information sought by his Department from the local authority has been submitted; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that there is no water pressure should a fire break out; and if he will make this an urgent case in view of the expansion of the area and the serious difficulties being encountered by residents. The Killeagh water and sewerage scheme has been approved for construction in my Department's water services investment programme 2004-06 under the serviced land initiative. I understand that the sewerage element of the scheme has already been completed.

A revised preliminary report for the water supply proposals has been submitted by Cork County Council in response to amendments requested by my Department. It is currently being examined in the Department and is being dealt with as quickly as possible. The council will be in a position to prepare contract documents once the preliminary report has been approved.
