Question 415: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the fact that funding which has been provided by his Department to compulsory purchase order a property at Kilmacanogue, County Wicklow is being used to provide sub-standard housing without sanitation facilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware my Department is the main source of funding for social housing capital expenditure by local authorities. In this particular case a request for funding was received from Wicklow County Council for the purchase of the house in question and funding is being provided in the normal way. As with all such cases, the issue of the tenancy of the house is a matter to be decided by Wicklow County Council.
