The overall cost arising from the public consultation process is €760,142.20. This is broken down as follows: Carr Communications — advice, assistance with publicity and practical support at events — €114,574.31; printing, launch and distribution of discussion document Your Education System — €109,051.53; all costs associated with 17 public meetings, this includes cost publicising each meeting in advance through the press and radio, the cost of hotels used, including provision of tea-coffee for all participants, the cost of providing chairpersons for each of the meetings, sound and audio recording, Irish sign language interpretation and meeting expenses incurred by those who participated as panellists at each meeting — €395,222.11; Educational Research Centre — acting as secretariat and set up and management of website — €61,099.64; the cost of public attitudinal survey — €63,888; cost of four focused meetings, three on socio-economic disadvantage and education and one children's meeting — €16,306.61; a report on the overall process has been drafted and will be published shortly. The purpose of the process has been to gather material that will inform education policy in the medium and longer term and to ensure that all interested individuals and groups had the opportunity to make their views known and to have these recorded. Any relevant portion of the final report will be among the items to be taken into consideration when planning medium and long term policy developments into the future but it was never envisaged that there would be a direct implementation process arising from the report.

Detailed reports of all events held as part of the process continue to be accessible on the website www.youreducation.ie, along with contributions made by individuals and groups and the report on the public attitudinal survey.
