Question 488: To ask the Minister for Education and Science when the guidelines for the erection of speed limits outside rural national schools will be published; if her attention has been drawn to the problems confronting the pupils, staff and parents of a school (details supplied) in County Galway; if her attention has been further drawn to the fact that this school is situated on the busy N63, that the school playground is situated on the opposite site of the road and if this school is to use the school warden system the speed limit approaching the school from both sides will have to be reduced; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The issue of speed control measures are outside the vested site area of Ballaghlea National School, Ballygar, County Galway and are not a matter over which my Department has any control. The school authorities may liaise with the local authority on the issues outlined by the Deputy.
