The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government carries out a survey of the total amount of serviced land zoned for residential purposes. This survey is valuable in assessing the overall stock of land at the same point each year, and the sufficiency of that stock to underpin required housing supply. Details on the amount of undeveloped land zoned for housing in the State and in each local authority is published annually and is available in the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government's housing statistics bulletin, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library and also on the Department's website at www.environ.ie.
