Officials in the school planning section of my Department are considering two options as possible solutions to the long term accommodation needs of the school in question. The first option is the provision of a new school on a greenfield site. The property management section of the Office of Public Works, which acts on behalf of my Department in relation to site acquisitions generally, has identified a site, which could provide for the long term accommodation requirements of the school in question. The second option is looking at the primary school provision in the area where the school is located to enable the use of existing accommodation to be maximised.

Discussions relating to the possible rationalisation of certain schools are ongoing. However, as the Deputy will appreciate, due to the requirement for sensitivity and confidentiality surrounding these discussions, it would not be appropriate to make a further statement on the matter at this point in time.
