Question 903: To ask the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a number of applicants involved in the dispute over commonage land at Glenahiry, Clonmel, County Waterford were awarded their area aid applications while others were not; the attempts which have been made by her Department to have the matter resolved; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Claimants on the Glenahiry commonage have been in dispute over a number of years. Until the dispute is settled, claimants can ask my Department to remove the commonage area concerned from their area aid applications, thus allowing payment for the remainder of their land to be processed. My Department's legal division has been in contact with various solicitors acting for various farmers involved with a view to progressing a resolution in this matter. However, my Department has no legal jurisdiction in this matter, which can only be resolved between the persons concerned.
