Question 487: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has plans to modernise legislation in the area of bankruptcy in order that persons who have been declared bankrupt are not unduly penalised; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24061/05]

There are no proposals in the current Government legislative programme with regard to the modernisation of the Bankruptcy Act 1988. However, the situation will be kept under review with a view towards considering any necessary future legislative action.
