Question 319: To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the 25 troops and crew on board the US C130 Hercules [i]en route[/i] from a US Air Force based in Germany to Newfoundland, Canada, that made an emergency landing at Shannon earlier in June 2005 were armed or were carrying personal weapons. Permission for foreign military aircraft to overfly or land in the State is the responsibility of the Minister for Foreign Affairs under the Air Navigation (Foreign Military Aircraft) Order 1952. It is not the practice of the Government to release the details of individual military aircraft landings.
