Question 297: To ask the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works has completed a survey on the ability of the culvert currently under construction at Mabestown, The Ward, County Meath, to cope with flood conditions on the N2 Ashbourne/Finglas motorway project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The survey in question was carried out, not by the Office of Public Works, but by the firm of consultants operating on behalf of the National Roads Authority and the local authorities.
The Office of Public Works understands that the survey has now been completed and that the consultants have commenced the modelling of flood flows in order to identify options in relation to reducing the flood risk in this area. The consultants are in consultation with the Office of Public Works, which has maintenance responsibilities in respect of the Broadmeadow and Ward catchment drainage scheme.
