Question 280: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the extent to which she has studied the number of incidents of the various forms of cancer throughout the country with particular reference to the areas affected by high levels of radon gas; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 280 and 281 together.
Statistics in relation to the incidences of cancer cases including lung cancer are collated by the national cancer registry. My Department has asked the director of the registry to examine the issue raised and reply directly to the Deputy.
