Question 288: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he is satisfied that no person who is disqualified from holding a directorship of a private company is currently a member of any State board under the auspices of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, the functions of the various boards under my Department's aegis are not of a commercial nature, nor are they equivalent to those performed by private sector companies. However, the procedures followed with regard to vetting persons being considered for appointment to such boards comply with the various relevant Acts and the public service guidelines in place.
