Question 259: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children when a 24 hour ambulance will be located in areas of Mayo (details supplied) in view of the fact that this has been a priority of the HSE West for some time and there is no ambulance base within the national accepted guidelines of distance from ambulance base; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that lives are being lost and put in jeopardy due to the considerable time lapse which is involved in an ambulance arriving to take the ill person to hospital; when an ambulance base will be provided in this area; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the parliamentary affairs division of the executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
