Question 252: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the costs paid from Exchequer funds to 31 December 2004 in relation to all commissions, inquiries and tribunals commenced since 1995 by his Department; the title of the commission, inquiry and tribunal; the estimated date of completion of same; the estimated final cost of each commission, inquiry and tribunal. I assume that the question relates to commissions, inquiries and tribunals established for specific investigative purposes. The total cost of the Tribunal of Inquiry into Certain Planning Matters and Payments to 31 December 2004 is €37.602 million. The tribunal expects to finish all its public hearings by at the latest March 2007. It is not possible for my Department to estimate the final costs of the tribunal at this stage as these depend on the progress of its business and on decisions by the tribunal with regard to costs of witnesses.
