Question 150: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the reason medical card holders are charged for blood tests taken at their general practitioner's surgery; if she will consider including this service under the medical card scheme (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. Where blood tests are indicated as necessary as part of recognised treatment of an ongoing medical condition of a patient, it should be provided free of charge to medical card holders.
