Question 123: To ask the Minister for Agriculture and Food if her approval has been sought from Greencore for the proposed sale of the site of the Carlow plant which closed on 11 March 2005; if she has sought information from the company regarding its intentions with respect to the site; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My approval has not been sought to the sale of any property following the recent closure by Greencore of the Irish Sugar plant at Carlow and I am not aware of the company's intentions in that regard. As Minister, I hold a special share in Greencore plc. That share has the same monetary value as any other share in the company but special conditions are attached which prevent the company from engaging in a number of activities without the prior written consent of the Minister. One of the activities for which prior written consent is required is the disposal of more than 20% of specified sugar assets in Carlow and Mallow.
